Still Life Inside on the Outside 8 June

Still Life - Drawing and Oils with Louise Bennett

  • 95 British pounds
  • The Croft, Carwynnen

Course Description

Wednesday 8th June 10am - 4pm During this one day course you will connect with nature and the immediate landscape by foraging for seasonal flowers and foliage.  As a group we will create a variety of still life starting points using collected vessels, pots and jam jars, on a range of backgrounds or surfaces, much as you might create a picnic or feast:  celebrating nature's abundance and our relationship with the natural world. We will explore a range of compositions, good and bad, in order to understand the balance of colour and form and the structure of a good composition.  There will be examples of still life compositions within the landscape to reference, discuss and stimulate your own ideas. We'll make quick sketches to confirm our compositional arrangements before embarking on an oil painting.   I'll demonstrate  some different approaches and we'll spend the afternoon 'putting paint on' and sipping tea or iced lemonade? Painting outside can be a delightful experience and this connection to the experience should translate into paint. You will also receive a complimentary School of Outdoor Art drawing board sketchbook. All refreshments and a homemade vegetarian lunch included.
