Course Description

These 4 half day courses can be attended consecutively of as stand alone workshops. On all courses materials are included and can be accessed despite the focus of the session. Earth – Earth paints, Plant Inks, Acrylics, Oil and chalk pastels and Watercolours. An introduction to ‘pigments’ from the prehistoric roots of cave art to the spectrum of media we find in the pod studios. Through experimentation and guided activities participants will refer to the colour wheel and create a colour journal to take away as a source of further development. Water – Mixed media and tools. The combination of media and it’s behaviour with water will be the source of investigation and experimentation. Working en plein air requires us to adjust and be fluid to the external elements. An understanding and adaptability to interactions with weather and damp can be worked with to a creative advantage. During this half day course we will discover the effects water can have with a variety of medium. Taking away a series of exploratory pieces to add to our sketchbooks. Air - Mixed media and tools. Working outdoors demands that we embrace and harness the outside elements. In this half day course we will utilise the range of pod studio media as well as discovering unconventional methods of sensory and physical play to develop and record responses and reactions to wind, movement, smell and sounds. You will take away a series of work on a variety of surfaces and a repertoire of new approaches to continue to explore creatively.
